Come To Me
T.S. Evans 11/2001

Come to me with criticism
Take your place in line
Come to pass your judgment on me
Please don't waste my time
Come to see me torn asunder
Feast your eyes if I go under
Come to me expecting something exquisitely sublime

Take off the mask you're wearing
You just sit staring back at me
Hello, is anybody home?

Come to me your arms are open
You're perfectly disguised
I'm a lamb
The wolf is hidden there behind your eyes
As you put your arms around me
A subtle poison starts to drown me
Come to me to taste the power - the power of your lies

Take off the mask you're wearing
You just sit staring back at me
Hello, is anybody home?

Come to feed your failing spirit
Starving day by day
Dreams that once grew wild inside
Have started to decay
Dreams are easy to ignore
You come to watch me live them for you
If only for a fleeting moment the distinction falls away

Take off the mask you're wearing
You just sit staring back at me
Hello, is anybody home?

Come To Me is my latest song as of July 2002. The songs on Lines On The Wall represent some of my work from the last ten years and I really wanted to include a new track. This delayed completion of the project but for me it was worth it. The track shows where I'm at right now in terms of melodic composition and lyrical content. I left a lot of space in the production of this song and you might notice that I'm singing in a much lower range than on the rest of the album - a sign of age?

Come To Me . Not quite Barry White.
