Gone Fishin' was written in about five minutes one night in '94. I had been practicing for hours when I few friends came over to jam. By that time I was so loose I felt like I could play just about anything. Between songs we were sipping a beer and I just started playing this tune.

During the recording of Gone Fishin' I decided a little ambiance might work with the song. I put a microphone out in the backyard and just then an ice cream truck passed by. That's what you hear just before the track begins. I thought "How appropriate!" Surprisingly enough the ice cream truck's song seems to be in the same key and tempo as Gone Fishin'!!
